The lie is that of the painter. The transfiguration of a landscape, that of hills that slowly descend to the valley, within the same colors and shapes that we invent or that we have there, before our eyes. An abstraction that steals from nature and that transforms according to the artist’s feeling. Perhaps only in the word lie can one find the truth of abstract expressionism. An infinite chain of lies, as many as the ways of seeing and rendering everything that is around us. Everything that is painted, then becomes a lie.
